In the south, the fortified castle of Villebois stands on the hill. The village stretches out below.
Medieval fortress
Following Gallic and Roman fortifications, a medieval fortress was built in the 10th century on the hill which overlooks the town. Despite being reworked several times and badly damaged by fire in 1822, the castle still preserves interesting vestiges of the Middle Ages.
In the centre of Villebois
In the market square, walk round the covered market which dates from the 17th century. The impressive timbers supported on columns and the flagstones worn with centuries of use are an essential part of any visit.
