The visit

The initiatory visit goes from the quays of the Charente to the very heart of the " temple of nectar". Starting with a map of the world which enables the visitor to imagine the voyages of the eaux-de-vie as they travel to distant lands, the visit is a trip through time in the ageing storehouses and the different stages in the production of cognac.

In 1853, on the quai de la Charmille in Jarnac, Louis Royer began the construction of a storehouse beside his family home. A cellar by profession, he made agreements with several distilleries to guarantee his supply of eaux-de-vie. The Louis Royer house was born.
