The visit
The premises of the Hennessy company stand on either side of the Charente : on the right bank, the 18th century storehouses; on the left bank the temple of light created in 1995 by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. They are open to the public.
Sounds, smells and images are used to reveal the secrets of cognac.
The visit ends in the cooperage Museum with its collection of rare works and tools concerning this art which is over 2000 years old.

From the art of war to the art of cognac
In the 18th century, Richard Hennessy, a minor Irish nobleman, enlisted in the army of Louis 15th. In 1760, having risen to the rank of captain, he was garrisoned on the Île de Ré. He fell in love with the Charente region, left the army and settled in Cognac. Several years later, he founded the Hennessy company and set out to conquer the markets. From shipwreck to boarding, the brand gradually made its mark on all the continents, including among the revolutionaries : " Hennessy " was the only " gringo " word tolerated by Pancho Villa.
